The Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations in New York and head of the OIC member states to the United Nations, H.E. Ambassador / Abdallah Y. Al-Mouallimi; and H.E. Consul General of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in New York, Mr. Khalid Bin Mohammed Al-Sharif, held an Iftar (breakfast) reception at United Nations hotel on the occasion of the Holy month of Ramadan. The ceremony was attended by H.E. the Permanent Observer of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to the United Nations, Ambassador / Ufuk Gokcen, H.E. the head of the Mission of Arab League to the United Nations, Ambassador / Ahmed Fathallah, H.E. Deputy Permanent Observer of GCC to the United Nations, Mr. Yousef Alnuaif, H.E. the Managing Director of Diplomatic Missions in the U.S. State Department in New York, Mr. Thomas Gallup, their Excellencies the Ambassadors representatives of the member states of the OIC to the United Nations in New York, their Excellencies the consuls-general of the Arab countries in New York, and the employees of the Saudi Mission and consulate-general in in New York.

In his speech on the occasion of the Holy Month of Ramadan, His Excellency the Permanent Representative Abdallah Al-Mouallimi, conveyed sincere congratulations to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and defense Minister, Prince Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the Deputy Crown Prince, Second Deputy Prime Minister, and Chancellor and Special Envoy of the Custodian of the two Holy Mosques, His Royal Highness Prince Muqrin Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. Furthermore, Ambassador Mouallimi asked God Almighty to accept the fast and good deeds of all attendees, and wished for both the Islamic and Arabic nations a blessed and prosperous Holy Month of Ramadan.

The Permanent Mission of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations co-sponsored today a side-event on the Use of Starvation as a Weapon of War in Syria at at the United Nations. Speakers provided personal accounts of life under siege  in Syria and of the impact of the use of starvation as a weapon of war, a violation of international humanitarian law. Permanent Representative of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations, H.E Ambassador Abdallah Al-Mouallimi commented on the situation plaguing Syria and the failure of the International Community and in specific the Security Council in solving the crisis. "The Security Council issued a resolution 2139 intended to end the suffering of the besieged and ease the delivery of humanitarian assistance, but after hearing the witnesses who have spoken it is quite obvious that there is a clear violation of the resolution and lack of concrete effort by the international community. Ambassador Al-Mouallimi  added that "the international community has a responsibility to end the suffering of the Syrian people and to hold those responsible for heinous crimes against humanity accountable".

Saudi Arabian Ambassador to the United Nations participates at The Syrian Coalition's event:100,000 Name-Reading event outside of the United Nations Print E-mail

The Syrian Coalition invited several Permanent Representatives at the United Nations, including H.E Ambassador Abdallah Al-Mouallimi, Permanent Representative of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations, to participate in the 100,000 Name-Reading event outside of the United Nations. H.E Ambassador Al-Mouallimi had participated in the above mentioned event by reading the names of several victims of Al-Assad's regime.  The event was held for 24 hours starting 2 pm on June 2 to June 3. It was organized by Syrians from across the United States in collaboration with Syrians in Syria, France, the UK and Turkey in protest of the Assad regime's illegitimate elections which will be held on 3 June.


According to the Syrian Coalition, "the event intended to highlight Bashar Al-Assad’s "real achievements" in Syria over the last three years: ongoing massacres, mass displacement, and large-scale destruction, and to show solidarity with the Syrian people who, like any other people in the world, deserve the right to self-determination".

His Excellency the Permanent Representative of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations, Abdallah Yahya Al-Mouallimi, represented the Kingdom in the inauguration ceremony of Chile’s president. President Michelle Bachelet welcomed His Excellency and valued the participation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in its ceremony. On this occasion, on behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince Deputy Prime Minister and defense Minister, His Royal Highness Prince Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the Second Deputy Prime Minister, and Chancellor and Special Envoy of the Custodian of the two Holy Mosques, His Royal Highness Prince Muqrin Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the government and people of Saudi Arabia, Ambassador Mouallimi conveyed sincere congratulations and wishes of continuous advancement and prosperity to the President and the friendly people of Chile. On the sidelines of this event, Ambassador Mouallimi met with the Chile’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Heraldo Muñoz, and both parties discussed issues of mutual concern between their two friendly countries.


Her Excellency, President Bachelet, asked His Excellency, Ambassador Mouallimi to kindly convey her sincere appreciation and gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Crown Prince and defense Minister, Prince Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the Second Deputy Prime Minister, and Chancellor and Special Envoy of the Custodian of the two Holy Mosques, His Royal Highness Prince Muqrin Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the government and people of Saudi Arabia.
