H.E. Ambassador Abdallah Y. Al- Mouallimi Chairs a Briefing on the “Practical Correctional Rehabilitation Program and the Role in Countering Terrorism of the Mohammad bin Naif Counseling and Care Center” Print E-mail

The Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations H.E. Ambassador Abdallah Y. Al- Mouallimi chaired a briefing at the headquarters of the United Nations organized by the United Nations Counter Terrorism Centre (UNCCT) and the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Implementation Task Force (CTITF) in partnership with the Government of Saudi Arabia on the “Practical Correctional Rehabilitation Program and the Role in Countering Terrorism of the Mohammad bin Naif Counseling and Care Center.” The meeting included a brief outline by Dr. Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz AlHadlaq, Director General of the Department of Intellectual Security in the Ministry of Interior on the strategy of Saudi Arabia in countering intellectual violence and extremism. The meeting also included a briefing by Major General Saeed bin Ameer AlBeshi, Head of the General Department and Brigadier General Dr. Mansoor bin Saeed AlQarni, Head of the Counseling Department, from the Mohammad bin Naif Centre on the Counseling, Care and Rehabilitation and Aftercare programmes.

 

H.E. Ambassador Al Mouallimi highlighted Saudi Arabia’s active role in countering international terrorism and extremism, and expressed delight at the opportunity to showcase the experience of the Mohammad bin Naif Centre for Counseling and Care as a pioneer in the field of rehabilitating individuals who were involved with terrorist groups.

Saudi Arabian Mission to the United Nations co-hosts high-level event on “Preventing the Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction to non-State Actors: the Implementation of Resolution 1540 (2004) in the Arab World” Print E-mail

The Permanent Mission of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations in collaboration with the United nations University are organizing and co-hosting a high-level three day event entitled "Preventing the Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction to non-State Actors: the Implementation of Resolution 1540 (2004) in the Arab World". The event will take place starting from today, 22 April to 24 April 2013 at different locations, including the Saudi Mission and the Security Council Report.

The Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations, H.E. Ambassador Abdallah Y. Al-Mouallimi, opened the session with an introductory speech which mentioned that The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has already pledged USD 500,000 in support of projects that will effectively contribute to the implementation of resolution 1540 (2004) by States and it’s extremely committed to raising awareness of resolution 1540 (2004) and to facilitate dialogue on its implementation among Permanent Missions of The Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf and of the League of Arab States.

The three day high level will be structured around three outreach activities distributed in three days and approached different communities and audiences. The first day would gather Permanent Representations of the Cooperation Council of the Arab States of the Gulf, the League of Arab States, 1540 Committee members, 1540 Committee experts, relevant international/regional organizations and UN System entities. Statements from the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations, H.E. Ambassador Abdallah Y. Al-Mouallimi, and UN Secretary General H.E. Mr. Ban Ki-Moon, as well as other distinguished speakers will be delivered.  While on the second day, researchers specialized in 1540-related matters will trigger discussion on relevant aspects of the implementation of the resolution, as well as topics of Peace, Security and Disarmament. The final day session would be open to a broader audience from NGOs and academia, including students.

The signing of the Convention on the establishment of bilateral relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Serbia Print E-mail

The Saudi Arabian Mission to the United Nations in New York held the Signing Ceremony of the Joint Communiqué on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Serbia.

 

The Joint Communiqué was signed from the Saudi Arabian side by H.E Mr. Abdallah Y. Al-Mouallimi ,Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations, and from the Serbian side by H.E Mr. Feodor Starčević, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Serbia. Amongst the attendants of the signing ceremony was the President of the General Assembly, H.E. Ambassador Vuk Jeremic.

 

H.E. Ambassador Al-Mouallimi expressed his hope that this step will lead to the consolidation of fruitful bonds and cooperation between the two countries in political, commercial and cultural fields.

The Permanent Representative of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdallah Y. Al-Mouallimi, hosted The Young Professionals in Foreign Policy of New York (YPFP NY) as part of a Global Diplomacy Series event titled “Saudi Arabia's Engagement in Multilateral Diplomacy”. The event took place on Tuesday, April 16 at the Permanent Mission of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations. Ambassador Al-Mouallimi addressed Saudi Arabia's active role and engagement in the United Nations, Saudi-US relations, as well as Middle East issues and other pressing developments in the region more broadly.

Saudi Arabia announces a 4 million dollar donation to the people of Mali Print E-mail

A Royal decree has been issued announcing the donation of 4 Million US dollars to be allocated between the World Food Programme (WFP) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in support of their programs and emergency operations aiming at alleviating the situation of those in need in Mali.
